It’s easy to assume that Cancun is all about the party scene, but we just visited a hotel that proves that this Caribbean paradise is the perfect spot for a wellness-focused bachelorette party or a relaxing anniversary trip. Hotel Mousai Cancun is an adults-only boutique hotel and one of the best hotels in Cancun for a long weekend getaway.

 

Located in Costa Mujeres and directly facing Isla Mujeres, this Mexican-owned luxury resort offers some of the best unobstructed ocean views in Cancun. It’s also one of Cancun’s newest resorts, having opened in June 2024. Below, we’re giving you a behind-the-scenes tour of the resort, its entertainment program, and its extensive room categories, including the lucrative Ultra Suites that come complete with butler service.

Cancun is famous for its party resorts, and Hotel Mousai Cancun fills a gap by offering a lively experience that doesn’t feel overwhelming. This hotel feels like a sanctuary with its refined entertainment program that includes a variety of group activities, such as Mexican cooking classes and whiskey tastings. You can spend your evenings enjoying live piano performances or show off your dance moves during the DJ sets.

 

Hotel Mousai Cancun is a great option if you’re planning a bachelorette party with a group of friends who prefer sipping on cocktails by the pool to a late night out on the town. The first-class service at this resort is what sets it apart from other boutique resorts, especially if you’re planning a long weekend vacation where you don’t want to leave your hotel.


Design and Aesthetic


Hotel Mousai Cancun pays homage to its heritage, while curating the feeling of a luxury experience with its spacious public areas and modern suites. The interior design features handmade artwork from local Mexican artists, with luxury Italian furniture and smart technology incorporated into every room.

 

Look out for the Toto smart toilets! They can definitely catch you off guard if you’re not expecting them. As a newer resort, Hotel Mousai has leaned into the automation trend without making the technology an eyesore.


Rooms and Suites at Hotel Mousai Cancun


What makes Hotel Mousai special is that every suite offers an oceanfront view, so you won’t have to pay extra to enjoy a glimpse of the ocean with your morning coffee. There are 88 suites available across the 8 floors of the resort, with floors 1 to 5 offering standard luxury suites, while floors 6 to 8 are for Ultra Suites.

 

Pro-tip: The Corner Suites are amongst the most popular. 2-bedroom suites or two connected corner suites with a private pool are great for groups, as they sleep up to 6 adults.



While the Ultra Suites are the main attraction at this resort, I took a peek into two of the most popular room types for couples and group getaways.


Mousai Jacuzzi Suite

The Mousai Suite is one of the most popular options for couples, with its ocean-facing bed and private jacuzzi pool. Most of the space can be controlled by the in-room iPad, including mood lighting and music, and you can even order room service or book a spa treatment directly on the iPad. This suite prioritizes indoor-outdoor living with a private terrace to enjoy the serenity of the ocean during golden hour. 

 

2-Bedroom Master Suite

If you’re planning a vacation for a small group of adults, then the 2-Bedroom Master Suite is worth considering. It sleeps up to 6 adults with 1 King and 2 Queen beds. The frosted glass offers added privacy if you’re sharing with other couples, and the connected terraces give you a shared space for relaxing together.

 

This suite feels like your own personal spa retreat with a jetted hydromassage tub, steam shower, and sun loungers for private sunbathing.

 

Pro-tip: Guests who are staying at least 3 nights in a 2-bedroom suite receive a complimentary private breakfast or dinner and a mixology class, arranged through the hotel’s butler service.


Butler Service and Ultra Suites Perks

The Ultra Suites are what make the Hotel Mousai stand out against the competition. These suites are located on the hotel’s highest floors, providing the best views of Isla Mujeres. The exclusive butler service is to a white-glove standard with your own pillow menu, luxury amenities, and in-room experiences.

 

The suites available in the Ultra category have the same spacious interiors and layout as those that you’ll find on the lower floors, with the added benefit of the on-call personal butler. Your butler will manage your restaurant and spa reservations, help plan activities, and oversee your in-room service.


Dining at Hotel Mousai Cancun

Food is where things get a little tricky at Hotel Mousai, especially if you want to make the most of your all-inclusive package. The smaller selection of on-site dining options means that you may feel restricted if you’re planning a week-long vacation.

 

The Noi Restaurant serves an elevated Mexican breakfast before switching its menu to focus on Italian cuisine for dinner. Casual dining is also available on the rooftop and poolside, along with a full menu for room service. Some of the highlights of these menus include the fresh ceviche, tacos with homemade tortillas, and coconut shrimp. As a hotel guest, you’ll get priority access for restaurant reservations with preferred dining times.


Expanded Dining Options at Sister Hotels

Guests at Hotel Mousai are given access to all the restaurants within Garza Blanca Cancun and Villa Del Palmar Cancun. Caprichos serves an eclectic mix of world cuisine, while LEGENDS is an up-market sports bar. Villa Del Palmar also offers poolside dining, with the main attraction beings its La Casona Steak House, opened daily from 5:30 pm to 11 pm.

 

Over at Garza Blanca Cancun, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner at The Gourmet Hall with its five specialty kitchens in a food-court style setting, along with a beachside food truck. Guests can also access the Hiroshi restaurant, which fuses Japanese ingredients with Mexican flavors, and the Bocados Steak House, known for its impeccable wine selection.


Pools and Beach Experience


 The hotel offers a beachfront and rooftop infinity pool with unobstructed views of the ocean and all-day rooftop dining. You can expect these pools to be a little quieter than most Cancun resorts, as many of the suites at this hotel have a private terrace with a jacuzzi.

 

As a beachfront resort, Hotel Mousai offers guests direct access to the white-sand beach of Costa Mujeres.  This swimmable beach is well-maintained, and its location means that it’s more secluded than most of the beaches in Cancun.

Spa Imagine offers some of the best spa packages in Cancun with services that include hydrafacials, a therapy suite, and a beauty salon. We were fortunate to get the chance to explore the extensive spa facilities and wellness zone to see the additional add-ons that could be booked for clients, including body treatments and massages.


Final Thoughts


Hotel Mousai is a great alternative to most luxury all-inclusive resorts for guests who want a more relaxed and wellness-focused experience away from the party scene. This upscale hotel has a boutique feel with just 88 suites, but its shared resort set-up may not suit every traveler.

 

With its smaller size in mind, we recommend Hotel Mousai as one of the best adults-only resorts for a long weekend break, especially if you’re looking for accommodation for a girlfriend’s getaway or romantic weekend away.
