Gorgeous beaches, warm, sunny climate, and awe-inspiring mountain terrain: an adventure in Los Cabos is always a good idea, right? But with so many accommodations available, it's easy to get overwhelmed (and duped).


That's why I was excited to be invited by Melia Hotels International to experience two of their incredible Los Cabos resorts myself. 


This time, let's take a deeper look at Paradisus Los Cabos. Does the luxe resort provide value for your money? What amenities can you expect during your stay? Who is the hotel best suited for? Let's find out!

  • Rooms: 350 luxurious rooms and suites

  • Pools: 3 pools (guests staying in the Swim-up Suites have direct access)

  • Location: Paradisus Los Cabos is nestled in a breathtaking beachfront setting along the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur (you can access one of the region's few swimmable beaches). The hotel is just 15 miles from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) and close to both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

  • When to Go: The best time to visit Paradisus Los Cabos is between November and April, when the temperatures are mild and the hurricane season ends. If you wish to escape crowds, consider booking a vacation between May and early June, when it is the off-season.



Atmosphere

Although Paradisus Los Cabos has welcomed guests for several decades, it was recently revamped and rebranded as an adults-only hotel. After the renovations, it can truly be described as a sanctuary that lets you escape the hustle and bustle of city life.


In fact, Paradisus Los Cabos is one of the rare hotels in Los Cabos that has direct access to a beautiful, swimmable beach. Together with the resort's lush gardens, it provides a peaceful, nature-infused backdrop. So, whether you decide to enjoy the spectacular ocean vistas or head for an adventure in the nearby coastal mountains, you'll fall in love with the nature surrounding you.


But although spending time in the outdoors is certainly tempting here, even staying on the premises will give you all the relaxation you need. The luxurious YHI Spa offers head-to-toe pampering and wellness treatments, and the culinary experiences will impress even the biggest gourmets. In fact, I'd even travel here just to try the incredible steak burrito!


Although the resort has an exclusive, tranquil feel, there's also plenty of action to be enjoyed for those who prefer a more active vacation. During the day, you can participate in different sports activities, including yoga. In the evenings, guests can enjoy live entertainment and different cultural shows, which keep the atmosphere dynamic but still refined.


So, who is Paradisus Los Cabos best suited for? The hotel is ideal for couples and honeymooners seeking a luxurious, peaceful, and personalized experience with a mix of beach time and local adventures. It’s also a great choice for group trips with friends or even a fun girls' getaway, offering something for everyone. As I'll explain later, the resort provides many life-enriching activities that reveal the authentic Los Cabos spirit. So, even though you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort, you can still get a little taste of the real Mexico.


Accommodations

Paradisus Los Cabos features 350 rooms and suites across several categories. Guests have the option to choose between staying in the Junior Suites (Garden, Ocean, and Oceanfront views) as well as The Reserve Suites, which come with enhanced amenities like private pools and personalized concierge services. Note that the maximum capacity for rooms is three.


During my visit to Paradisus Los Cabos, I stayed in the Reserve Suite Ocean View. The suite includes an open-plan space with a bedroom and lounge, as well as a private terrace offering splendid views of the stunning pool area and the entire resort. Like the hotel itself, every single detail in this room is carefully curated. If you're traveling with your boo or don't know how to pack lightly (guilty!), the suite features a huge closet space.


Another highlight of the Reserve Suite Ocean View is its stylish bathroom. My favorite feature was the dual rain shower heads. You can live out your rom-com fantasies here! However, if you decide to stay in this suite, keep in mind the lighting isn't the best in the bathroom.



Benefits of staying in The Reserve Suites

Although the suite's design alone will make you fall in love with the resort, the extra amenities guests of the Reserve category get access to are what make the stay truly special.


Here's an overview of what you can expect:

  • Access the Reserve lounge, where you can treat yourself to yummy snacks, specialty coffee, and premium-brand drinks every day from 7 AM to 11 PM.

  • Enjoy private check-in and check-out. Once you arrive, your bags will be taken immediately, and you can skip the annoying check-in lines!

  • To make the arrival even more special, you'll be welcomed with a delicious cocktail and a complimentary bottle of your favorite alcoholic beverage.

  • Take advantage of an exclusive aromatherapy menu with turndown service every evening.

  • Participate in Destination Inclusive experiences, like visiting San José's chocolate factory and exploring its magical neighborhoods.

  • Destination Concierge.

  • Take advantage of priority reservations for your chosen activities and restaurants, including exclusive access to Santé restaurant. This is useful because all the places are filled up quickly!

  • Open invitation to have a beautiful dinner at the renowned La Palapa restaurant overlooking the Sea of Cortez.


… and more! When you stay at The Reserve Suites, you'll feel like true royalty. Forget about ironing or any other hassles of your daily life. Your only worry here will be choosing among the many delicious cocktail options!


What about other rooms?

For couples craving a romantic experience and extra privacy, I suggest booking a stay at Reserve Junior Suite Swim Up. If you're on a getaway with your friends, Junior Suite Oceanfront with double beds will be the perfect pick (read about more wonderful girlcation destinations here).


As for my favorite? Master Suite is certainly the winner. Equipped with a huge closet (Carrie Bradshaw huge), a beautiful bathtub, and a totally separate lounge with a sofa bed, it will be fantastic for celebrating your honeymoon or anniversary. With 116 m2 of space, it's also a great option if you're looking for a place for your wedding party to get ready in!



Service

Great design sure doesn't hurt, but what makes a vacation special is the experiences you get to enjoy and, of course, the level of service. Sometimes, a kind smile can make the most difference! At Paradisus Los Cabos, you can expect five-star service from the moment you arrive.


When you book a stay at one of the Reserve Suites, you'll have a truly personalized travel experience. And I'm not talking about a customized email. It means you can enjoy a vacation that's uniquely tailored to your own preferences!


Since Paradisus Los Cabos is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, you naturally expect high standards. However, even I was surprised by the high level of service I experienced. The staff is incredibly friendly and will cater to all your wishes, ensuring your stay at Paradisus Los Cabos is a good one.



Amenities & Experiences


The beach

Staying at the five-star resort is all about unique experiences! Perhaps the coolest part about the resort is the fact it's also a turtle sanctuary. If you arrive in the early autumn, you might be able to spot the endangered olive ridleys hatching from their shells. And in the right season, you might even see a whale from your comfortable Bali beach bed! How amazing is that? Just remember to bring sandals, the sand is quite rocky.


Activities

Of course, seeing turtles isn't the only fun you'll get to enjoy. You can join a relaxing seafront yoga class or an exciting painting class (paired with fine wine!), explore your artistic side on a macramé workshop, or try surfit (yes, we had no idea surfing exercises could be performed outside the water either), participate in sound healing, play golf and take part in many other fantastic activities. This is why the resort is also an excellent choice for solo travelers – you'll never get bored here!


The spa

Once you've had enough of all the sunbathing, it's time to hit the beautiful YHI spa, which has treats coming out of its ears, from saunas to myriad face and body treatments. With its leisure pool, top-level gym, beauty salon, and charming relaxation area, it really is the perfect oasis to soothe and pamper!


Food

Authentic Mexican cuisine has long brought gourmets to tears. So, when visiting Paradisus Los Cabos, you should make every meal count! Thankfully, with so many restaurants and cafes available (10, to be exact), it won't be difficult to do so.

SAL Steak Cave: Delicious steak restaurant (one dinner included per stay in The Reserve rooms)

Cielo: Authentic Mexican flavors

Tokimeku: Asian fusion restaurant where you can enjoy a live tuna scoring experience. What's cool is that at night, the restaurant transforms into a nightclub.

Capella: Excellent rustic Italian cuisine with an open salad bar (make sure to try the Truffle pizza, risotto ball, and beef tenderloin!)

Sante: Delicious international cuisine, combined with breathtaking views of the sea of Cortez (my favorites: crab cakes, tuna tartar, lamb chops, and steak)

Agua Marina: International cuisine, perfect for lunch (especially the burger and fries)

Coffee Corner by Nespresso: Delicious coffee

Twel2lvet: Ice cream shop

Fresco food truck: Yummy snacks near the pool area


Weddings

If you're thinking about tying the knot in Mexico, Paradisus Los Cabos is definitely a fantastic wedding venue to consider. In fact, the resort has one of the largest convention centers in the region, capable of hosting over 1,000 guests, meaning it's a good place for larger events.


However, the beautiful hotel will also be suited for couples who envision a more intimate celebration. For example, you can host your party at the Garden Platform or Sky Terrace. The gorgeous beachfront setting, combined with luxurious amenities and elegant design, make it a wonderful destination to say your I-dos. 


Our tip: Check out the inlet cove. Although it's not a private beach, it's more secluded, offering a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony.

Final thoughts about Paradisus Los Cabos

Over the last few years, a slew of new openings in Mexico has made it difficult to choose the perfect vacation destination. But if it's a grown-up getaway you're after, Paradisus Los Cabos won't disappoint! Forget about the glow-in-the-dark daiquiris offered in Americanized bars. Here, the focus is on local culture, unique experiences, and personalized activities. So, whatever your idea of an ideal vacation is, you're sure to have a blast!
